3 Signs Your Denture Needs Repair

Updated: Sep 2, 2023

We know you make every effort to keep your dentures in good condition. Even so, dentures can develop issues in the lining or the base. Over time, dentures may crack or become damaged. Gum tissue and bone can also change, and when that happens dentures won’t feel right. If your denture doesn’t fit as well as it did when you first got it, or, is causing you pain and discomfort, it may be time for a repair.

Care Instructions For Dentures to Minimize the Need for Repairs Taking care of your dentures and your oral hygiene will help keep repairs and adjustments to a minimum. Keep your dentures clean and brush your gums with a soft toothbrush. Rinse your mouth with an activated oxygen oral mouth rinse. Avoid sleeping with your dentures in, unless directed by your dentist. Handle your dentures with care. Place a towel on the counter and small pool of water in the sink as a safety in case your dentures fall or slip out of your hands when working with them. If they drop, they will have a soft landing. Clean your dentures daily to discourage the growth of yeast and bacteria.
